Summer School – AniMove 2013

The society of modelers, GIS modelers, and GIS people modeling animal movement seems to be growing fast. This year the summer school AniMove 2013, for getting in touch, learning and practicing various new and established GIS modeling tools is organised in southern Germany. Moreover, during the course only Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) will be used and applied. Great! Unfortunately, I probably don’t have time to attend that interesting programm, but I want to share the information with those who might be also interested.

The Summer School AniMove takes place on August 11.- 25. 2013 at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology Radolfzell, Germany.

Aims:

  • Providing profound knowledge of remote sensing and species distribution and animal movement within conservation
  • Hand-on exercises ranging from land cover and species distribution analysis to modeling of animal movement
  • and many more

The application deadline is soon: March 31. 2013!!

More information can be found on their website:

And a folder can be found here.

I wish the organizing team as well as the participants an joyful summer school with lots of new experiences in using FOSS in modeling animal movement.
